New beginner’s acting workshop/course starting on April 14th 2012

News: MISF!T^® (My Interest Stays Firmly In Theatre) is now starting its new Level 1 (Batch 25) acting course/workshop on April 14th 2012.

Details of the course

Level 1 is the foundation course which aims to bring out the fun of acting, make participants to shed their inhibitions, teach them stagecraft, pantomime, and character building. It is also for people without any background in acting. The objective is to make them as natural as possible.

The course is unique because it focuses on bringing out the originality, the creativity, and the attention to detail in the actor, by letting the actor create their very own concepts and execute these, in the form of numerous short plays, during the course of the training.Feedback of the alumni of MISF!T are available here:http://misfit.co.in/?cat=15

The course includes:

1. Breaking inhibitions: getting people comfortable to act, in front of an audience.
2. Characterization.
3. Voice: Understanding the components, and projection of voice.
4. Observation.
5. Listening skills.
6. Pantomime.
7. Improvisation.
8. Scene creation and Character creation.
9. Script creation.
10. Fine tuning of theatre craft.

Duration of the course

First seven weeks: Training (48 hours)

Frequency

1. First 6 weeks – every Saturday between 11:00am to 6:00pm with an hour’s lunch break.
2. Seventh week – both Saturday and Sunday (26th and 27th of May) between 11:00am to 6:00pm with an hour’s lunch break

After the training is over (48 hours), there will be additional hours of intensive training on June 2nd, June 3rd, and June 9th, which will culminate in the grading on June 10th.

This course is also designed in such a way, that it will help the participant, if he or she decides to, take acting as a profession.

Depending on the outcome of the grading and motivation of the students, there might be a professional play showcasing what the students have learnt during the course. This was done with the students of batch 23; most of them had never acted before but made their debut in a professional play – “Just Let Them…” . The play involved not only the students of the workshop but also professional actors and senior members of MISF!T. The course gets constantly upgraded because the ideologies are constantly evolving.

There are fixed days for registration – 31^st March 2012 and 7^th April 2012. There will be a brief interview before the registration. Knowledge of theatre is not necessary for the interview, it is purely for us, to get an understanding of your potentials and your reasons for joining the course.

Please note that if the seats are filled in the first round of registration (31^st of March), there will not be another round. In the previous batch, we were unable to accommodate a lot of people because they called up too late.
