Dear Mr. Thakore,
You were my first teacher in theatre and I’ve the best memories of school in your studio, with its cold yellow tiled flooring and a throne though used as a chair.
My love for the stage began later at college, where it let me express and grow.
I’ve gained a lot and lost a few things over the last six weeks. I’d forgotten the power of slapstick and how to play distinctly different characters over the years since I was warned against using caricatures in plays or playing extreme impressions and I then just played shades of the same character.
But over the last six weeks I’ve learned how to construct a character that isn’t me in many ways. I can’t say I’ve gotten all the way but it’s been memorable.
I’ve loved the energy we create in the studio before during and after a workshop, it’s made my weekends invaluable.
The content is challenging, but I think we could’ve worked on more home assignments of theory so we could internalise it better.
As for the performances, I think we could’ve still pushed us more!
I’ve seen people grow along side me and I’m in awe of what you’ve done 🙂
Thanks & Metta,
Sneha
