What is The Open Stage?

The Open Stage is a project undertaken by the Student Body of MISF!T. We at MISF!T love everything about theatre and performance, be it acting, directing, writing a script, stage set up, bringing coffee, having coffee and hanging around doing something. Why not spend our weekends doing some or all of the above? How about putting our weekends with some no-nonsense events, where we can hangout and be entertaining, entertain others, watch, learn, perform and indulge in wholesome theatre activities.

What do we do at open stage?
We have a Big Hairy Audacious Goal! Intimidated? Well, its actually pretty simple. Each weekend, we indulge ourselves with some of the following activities:

• Short Improvisations.
• Short Plays(5-10 mins) that you want to eventually take it forward to a professional platform.
• Musical and Dance Events.
• Script Reading.
• Theatre Games.
• Learning activities regarding camera, movie making, editing etc.
• Once in a while revision of some classes by Ratan.

Eventually, some of these performances might be so interesting that we might want to expand upon these for a professional show.

How can you participate?
The Open Stage is a membership based forum. We are currently keeping the forum limited to the students of MISF!T. It is voluntary to participate, both as an audience or as a performer. It is voluntary because that is how it is going to work. There would be coordinators for each of the above activities, who will change on an on-going basis. Anyone who wants to put up an event for that week, contacts the coordinator, and schedules their event for that week. The coordinator then notifies the members about the events for that week. A set of events, every weekend.

Where is this going to be held?
Currently, at our studio space at koramangala. So, every Saturday and Sunday, we get to use the studio from about 3.30 pm onward(on all non-workshop weekends) and from about 8.30 pm on weekdays. On the weekends, where the workshops are being conducted, we get to use the space post the workshop(around 6.30/7.00 pm).
