Dear Baba,
How are you. I am very good. Just like other participants, even I wanted to mail you about the Misift experience from a long time. Doing it now.
It has been one month that I graded from Misfit. And believe me, you have made my life difficult. Whenever I meet my friends or relatives they are like “Ladka acting karta hai abhi. Abe kuch kar ke dikha”. One of my friend has made a gif of my kiss and shared it in all groups. That has become viral.
Apart from that work has been very hectic. Working even on the weekends. I am seriously yearning for a break.
Well, Misfit L1. Wow, what a journey it was. It made us forget everything that was going on in our lives and a go inside a new world. A world where there were actors, there were scripts, there were dialogues, there were directors, there was listening and what not.
Where do you get all these things?
There is a corporate world, where in we work. You sit on the rotating chairs, laptop in front of you, you often attend presentations and you give presentations.
Here you sit on the floor. There is someone standing and teaching you something. And you like kids are taking notes. You hold your pen after a long time. You laugh you learn. You go to lunch break in big groups. You are worried that if you have to eat in 30 mins. Otherwise, the class will start. That someone standing he scolds you, he teaches you, he laughs with you.
Yes, you indeed can sing the song “School chale hum”. That’s Misfit for you.
The best thing about Misfit is baba you.
The very first class you with a great heavy voice start with the definition of acting. And immediately say “This is all crap”. That very moment I knew that I was in the right place.
You have designed L1 in such a beautiful fashion. The first two-three weeks you have kept it very easy. That’s so important for beginners. You talk about not to be worried about looking foolish. Giving fun activities that brought out child like qualities of all the participants. You gave such activities that increase the bonding among all the guys. Because in order for someone to act he needs to have good bonding with his team. And there is even bonding session after the class. Wow.
By fourth week it so happened that we started observing actors in the movies. Their blocking, their props, their stage business etc. Which means that we had already learnt so many things.
I enjoyed each and every single day at Misfit. After every class, I used to come to my room and share the day’s experience with my roommates. Telling them all the acts that we did.
My favorite activities have been going outside and asking people some questions. I always wanted to do that. Another favorite is the blindfold exercise. Teaching the importance of trust. Pantomime was hilarious. I think I was at my best on that day.
In the fifth week, we did an act which was completely unplanned. And it turned out to be good. Little did we know that will be the act for the final play. And then the preparations started. We met, we planned out the script, thinking all the time about the play.
Then came the final act in front of the audience. That was the day where in I got emotional. One of the best days of my life. Believe me, there were millions of emotions running. I still remember the night.
But something happened a day before. In the technical grading, our play was up to the mark. There was an audience play scheduled next evening and in the morning we had a script change. It was a tense time. But we somehow finalized the script.
It was then the audience play time. Our play started off well. My entry started off well, but in between, I forgot a dialogue and my volume dipped.
Well, Misfit didn’t teach to dip my volume. If I dipped my volume, I have to be careful next time. And I was happy that I had put in all my efforts.
When I joined Misfit, my main goal was to have an experience. And I think I have achieved that.
Fifteen minutes before the play the pledge and after the play all the hugs. Baba these are the moments that you and Misfit gave me. Though it sounds like a cliche- It was unforgettable.
Baba I hope you will always be giving such special moments to many people. Lastly, I thank you for the journey.
Regards,
Aniket Kulkarni
