hello
When I first attended the basic acting workshop, I had never seen a Misfit play or presentation so I did not know what to expect. My only interaction with theater till then had been the few plays I had watched. My colleagues who had participated in the workshop earlier recommended it to me and I was more than happy to give it a try. Back then my interest also laid with improving my writing and this opportunity seemed like something I shouldnt pass up.
This workshop was also the first time I had participated in a workshop without a friend to accompany me. When I look back now, interacting with strangers was one of the important lessons I learnt along the way.
For me personally, the basic workshop helped me discover a lot about myself along the way. As we performed different exercises that helped us hone our skills, I began to get a better understanding about my strengths and weaknesses, and about things that I felt comfortable or uncomfortable doing.
With wonderful exercises like the blindfold exercise, improvisation and many more, the workshop mixed fun with learning seamlessly and left you pumped up for more by the end of the day. Also, now when I look back I realize how important each of those exercises were both in improving the skills required to perform on stage and in many ways help one to extract more from themselves.
Finally with the workshop presentation, we were given an opportunity to put our skills and knowledge to good use and perform in front of an audience. It even gave me an opportunity to have my first plays performed. The experience let us experiment with our imagination and the outcome was truly fabulous.
All in all the workshop is one experience I will never forget. Working with Ratan, Anita and the seniors was a very enriching experience. I guess the output we produced and the response from the audience was a true testament to how wonderful the experience was.
