To Baba,
As a kid I always wondered at the life of an actor, could it be any better.Everything that I wanted to happen with me was happening with them.Isn’t everything that we do in our life because it brings us more love one way or the other. As an actor I would be able to achieve that in the best way possible, even from people sitting in farthest corner of the world. The feeling is ecstatic, that is what kept me searching for a way to be there.
Just two months in bangalore for my first job,I was very upset with myself on not even taking a step towards what I desired.I waited for things to come my way and one day universe must have been generous.I came across this play -The Other Road by MISF!T.I saw the play and was hooked.I asked baba to accept me as a student and after a brief interview he gladly agreed, for which I will be forever indebted.
Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder but it all came shattering down on the very first day of the class. The mystical beauty I had created about acting was doing whatever you do in real life in front of a camera, blew out when baba asked me to hold hands and do madhuri’s dhak dhak to total strangers, who will soon turn to be the best classmates ever.Everyone in my class loves to act, what can I ask more.
From a shy creature who kept distance from new people ,I became this talkative person who started hugging and kissing(stage kissing:P) people ,baba really screws you up.Haha. I learned new techniques and niches in acting which changed my overall personality in terms of body language and postures. Suddenly I was able to ‘project’ out my opinions and ideas in my work which improved my leadership qualities. The effort to let go of ego and stop bitching about fellow colleagues have taught me how to become a team player which is working wonders now. I have a new found respect for the actors and movie makers. I came to learn acting but I learnt living truly acting is living. I thank you Vishal sir for giving us on hands experience of the industry and being personal mentor for my first play. There is no words enough to describe my gratitude.
Baba,as one day you rooted a quote “Theatre should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comforted” ,it has done it for me in more ways than i can imagine.
Thank you MISF!T for accepting me as a part of you.Proud to be a MISF!Tian now and always.
Love , Rahul
