A lot of people may not know this, but I was a very reserved person for a long time. It was just a select bunch of people in my life to whom I used to open up to. Being social and spontaneous was not my scene. Misfit completely changed that about me. Now, I can start a conversation with a stranger and be completely at ease. Acting has taught me to let go of all my inhibitions (sort of, lol) and to be less judgmental. Creating the back stories for my different characters has made it easier for me to relate to people going through similar situations. After all, ‘who said acting was easy, life isn’t easy’.
My favourite exercise in L1 was the blindfold exercise. It taught me how important it is to trust my co-actor in order to make the scene work. It made me realise that a good actor should give importance to the scene and not worry about performing better than the others.
Coming to my L2. What I really enjoyed about it was the personal journey that I went through. I discovered my faults, my strengths. I understood myself better. Though it was mentally draining, I still looked forward to each class more by the day. On a personal level, L2 was much more enjoyable than L1. L2 taught me how to feel like the character, think like the character. I felt like a completely different person on stage, like I was transformed and could react like how my character would in different situations. One important lesson that I learned from L2 is that we can control our emotions better as long as we are aware of them.
Acting is something that I believe cannot be perfected and incidentally, that is the beauty of it.
