Venky , rightfully introduced me to misfit , I was the first person from L19 batch to meet Anita for the course. After signing up for the course I was eagerly waiting for the course to start. Finally it had , and you gave our first assignment!! It was about informing another batchmate about various facts of my life so that he can talk about me. After a long time I actually talked to myself though this reason. Then there was the interview task. That was I think one of the most amazing things that I have done in my entire life, talking to a stranger, asking him/her questions about different topics, liberating …it was ..for the first time I actually realized if you have your intentions right you can connect to any human being on this planet. That very feeling actually mutated certain aspects of my personality. Till this time I was not able to do much of acting though. Well, the problem I was having that time was emoting someone else’s expression in a way that is very different than mine or my kind of people. But yes , you never gave up on me , and that actually helped me to think , helped me to get to the root cause of the problem , one fine day I followed your instructions tried something that actually changed my inability to act. I stood in front of a mirror and tried to improvise on something that really is very close to my heart, “my grandpa talking to my grandma” …I did it for 2-3 times and then …then I finally realized how much fun it is to step into someone else’s soul and express!!

After that I have been performing a few characters and my grading and presentation performances, through those you actually made me fall in love with this noble craft named acting.

A few points about the MISFIT L1 course

• Overall the course is very objective.
• Assignments are multifarious, and actually the assignments offer the students a good learning curve, it has a fun side as well as serious pedagogical aspect.
• Well adjusted balance between the classroom hours and outdoor activities makes the course very interesting.
• Course is actually much more intense than an ordinary hobby class. It has very strong fundamentals that make it similar to acting courses offered by any leading varsities. (check the mit curriculum http://ocw.mit.edu/OcwWeb/Music-and-Theater-Arts/index.htm )

Now, about your influence as an instructor … you are flamboyant, conclusive, righteous and brilliant. You are one of my most favorite teachers. I think the way you bring up tremendous amount of positive energy to the class or the small group sitting in AJ’s whether you are happy, unhappy, and sick or concerned about something personal ….indicates a great aspect of your personality.
