Batch 16 Level 1

Urmila

I joined MISFIT as a complete new-comer to theatre acting. Though I’d done a couple of amateur plays in school & college, I had never really taken an active interest in watching professional plays or finding out more about the field.

Ratan made us feel comfortable immediately on entering class.

There were only 18 of us in our batch. In order to break the ice, we were paired up and given some time to interact with our partners. The idea was to be able to find out enough about the other person to then introduce them to the whole class. It really helped to get to know everyone from another person’s perspective. And the icing on the cake came at the end of the batch when we were told to stand in a group and on being asked to start, run around pinching our classmates’ cheeks and saying it was nice to meet them till we were asked to stop. If we hadn’t really become comfortable with our fellow students by then, this game definitely made it happen!

From day 1, I found the sessions both interactive as well as informative. Plus, there was a healthy balance of practical with theory that made the classes more fun. We would learn about a particular topic & then get a chance to implement it through acting.

We learnt the basics of theatre acting through this course. From blocking to mime & pantomime, improvisation and finally showcasing it all through a presentation, we had a blast through the course and were sorry to see our classes ending.

This course also doubles as a personality development course as it really helps to bring about self-confidence, lose inhibitions and bring out the hidden actor in you.
