Event Details
MISF!T® (My Interest Stays Firmly In Theatre) is starting its new Level 1 (Batch 34) acting course/workshop on February 20, 2016.
Please Note: The Interviews and Registrations are happening very soon, on the 31st of January, 2016 and if seats are available, on the 7th of February, 2016. Further details below.
This workshop promises you nothing except the understanding of ‘belief’ – Acting is believing.
We will also be dealing with a separate chapter called “Transitioning from Stage to Screen – Fundamentals”, which we started during the previous workshops. The Level 2 advanced workshop will have a more advanced treatment of the same subject.
New Initiatives
- On 5th of July, 2015 we began the first season of “Open Stage”. Open Stage is a student initiative from MISF!T which gives students an opportunity to continue with their acting, even after the courses are completed. After exactly 5 months into this journey, Open Stage came up with it’s first professional play. Some of the photos of the shows are available 5th December – Day 1 and 6th December – Day 2. This year, we have started the second season of “Open Stage” on Jan 3rd, 2016. Details available here.
- We have also started a professional platform for first time script writers to write, direct, execute and present their ideas using actors from MISF!T. This gives the actors from MISF!T an opportunity to enter the professional arena. The first version of this, was our play “Strangers”. The above, however, will depend on the discipline and dedication of the students.

Registration:
There are fixed days for registration – 31st Jan, 2016 and February 7, 2016 (subject to availability of seats as mentioned above). There will be a brief interview before the registration. Knowledge of theatre is not necessary for the interview, it is purely for us, to get an understanding of your potentials and your reasons for joining the course.
Duration of the course :60 hours
Frequency:
- 5 Weeks – Every Saturday and Sunday (from February 20 to March 27) between 11:00 am to 6:00 pm with a one hour lunch break.
- 6th week – After the training (60 hours) is over, the course will culminate in a grading on 27th March, 2016 (with a Tech rehearsal on 26th March).
- The grading will be a public performance(invited or ticketed).
Level 1 is the foundation course which aims to bring out the fun of acting, make participants to shed their inhibitions, teach them stagecraft, pantomime, and character building. It is also for people without any background in acting. The objective is to make them as natural as possible.
The course is unique because it focuses on bringing out the originality, the creativity, and the attention to detail in the actor, by letting the actor create their very own concepts and execute these, in the form of numerous short plays, during the course of the training.
Please note punctuality and attendance are very essential.
