Hi Ratan,

This is the feedback that you blackmailed me to give. I’m bad at giving my opinion about anything under the sun, but who can make me stop?.. so here I go..

Before I joined Misfit, I thought acting was a joke. (I mean when dogs, cats, rats, gorillas and babies could do it, I could too right?). Don’t get me wrong, even now I think it is a joke – A real bad one that’s being played on the actor. Acting is really tough. But the thing I’ve learnt from Misfit is that it is a science and believe an engineer when she says science can be learnt (actually, don’t :D ). Somebody once said Drama is just like life, with the dull bits cut out. Okay, this gives us super confidence, right? Try doing it, I’m pretty sure most of us will do senseless things even for the most mundane of activities. A simple task of miming a TV remote control made me go berserk. I conjured it out of thin air and made it vanish ten times within thirty seconds like a whimsical magician on dope. But fortunately or unfortunately, even a disoriented species like me can think about acting, I was right about that, but it needs a little knowledge, some practice and techniques, things that we are conditioned to forget as regular people. I joined this class with an intention to improve my writing skills, not acting. I think it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made, because this class has definitely helped me with my writing, as well as made me somewhat of an actor, but the silver lining is that it has made me more open as a person.

I have broken my inhibitions, understood theater better as a medium, and lastly, grudgingly reminded of how to sit in class for long hours :D And Ratan, I don’t give out compliments every day, believe me, I’m one of the biggest cynics you’ll ever come across, but I swear you are one of the best teachers I have had in my life. You love what you do, and that shows. I actually felt that you cared about what we did, as much or more than us, and all I can say is “Thank you. You’ll see me in L2. Try and make me act..hahahhaha. It is your punishment for putting all these crazy ideas into my ape-head”.
