Hi Ratan,

Can I forward you an email, which I wrote last week to one of my closest friends. Of course I have edited it a little. Hindi lines have been removed, profanities are erased..but the part which talked about Misfit is as it is.
Warning: Grammatical errors are in order. J

Here it is :

…..When I entered the room, I knew I was late by at least 15 minutes and class was already started.
But as soon as I entered the room within 10 seconds a lady came, pulled my cheeks and said “Oh my God, You are so cute”.
Not to mention, I was confused, and shocked. But before I could say “ I Know, I get that a lot.”, someone else was repeating the exercise.
This was a part of inhibition breaking exercises ( there are quite a few) and it starts sooner than you expect.

Then followed few exercises which helped letting the tension out of facial muscles. We all indulged ourselves in making faces and strangely frowning, grinning. And sarcasm came all but natural to us.
Everyone must have realized, how much they don’t express with all kind of emotions playing within and waiting to be expressed. The art of acting is no different than freeing yourself, and Ratan, the master, knows it well.

He always repeats:“Toning down is easier than building up.” Indeed it is.

Remember I talked about Bubblegum game over the phone.
You are not supposed to forget to exaggerate everything you do in Level1. And that’s what bubblegum game is about.
Bubblegum game was an exercise which allowed us to listen to the voice and act. All through the exercise we were receiving instructions from R. Later he would tell , “for an actor, that voice should be the voice of his mind, and acting is nothing but the reaction to that inner voice”. It was a BIG “Aha” moment for me.
How complex yet how simple.

There are quite a few exercises to enhance your voice projection….and dude I tell you they are really good. How many times in your life did you say…f–k off!!!!…did you ever realize those were helping you breath properly……so to perform the exercise one more time….f–k off!!!!!……….rather…this way….F-….-K!!…
I know, it’s funny.
Hilarious, interesting , informative and educating… MISFIT has all in there. It’s better than I expected.

Don’t make me type all the details, some other time I will bore you more. I am curious what will follow next week and after. You will be amazed to know how better we could have done all our plays in college back then.

Will keep you posted as always…meanwhile…I am hoping you will come to Bangalore and we will rock again.
Parth.

P.S.: I have deleted the portion where I talked about you J J so that we can talk it fresh in Gloria some time.
It goes without saying: Many Thanks.

Sad news is, I will be missing next two classes. Hope I can pick it up when I resume.

Regards,
Parth
